Since its founding in 2007 – a symbolic year for Romania, which joined the European Union, and for Sibiu, designated European Capital of Culture together with Luxembourg – RomLux has emerged as a catalyst for bilateral relations between the two countries. With over 200 events organised over the years, RomLux stands today as a key reference point for entrepreneurs, institutions, and experts seeking to explore and harness opportunities between Romania and Luxembourg.
From Initiative to Institution
Since 2022, RomLux has been officially recognised as the first accredited bilateral Chamber of Commerce between Romania and Luxembourg, playing an essential role in facilitating access to markets, talent, and resources for companies in both countries. Through continuous engagement and partnerships, RomLux has become a bridge between two complementary worlds, offering entrepreneurs concrete support, valuable contacts, and strategic guidance for sustainable business growth.
Historic Milestones in Bilateral Cooperation
After years of effort and dialogue with institutions and ministers from both countries, RomLux marked a historic milestone in October 2024 by organising the first Luxembourgish economic mission to Romania. The event, organised in partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and supported by both embassies, brought together in Bucharest 40 leaders from the fields of innovation, finance, and technology, as well as leading institutions such as Luxinnovation, Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT), Science and Technology Department (SnT) of University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC) and SES.
This mission reinforced Romania’s potential as a strategic destination for investment and collaboration in emerging sectors, building upon the first Luxembourg innovation business mission to Romania, held in November 2022.

RomLux Projects with Economic Impact
Among the most notable initiatives are the creation, in 2013, of the Romanian Business Network (RBN) – a platform supporting Romanian entrepreneurs in Luxembourg and Luxembourgish entrepreneurs in Romania – and the launch, in 2023, of RomLux Connect, a business directory designed to facilitate collaboration between professionals from both countries.
RomLux also organised thematic roadshows, such as the one dedicated to Romanian investment funds (2018) and the initiative connecting Romanian SpaceTech companies with the Luxembourg Space Agency.
Another impactful initiative is RomLux’s participation in the annual Nexus Luxembourg tech event, including its promotional warm-up sessions organised in Cluj, Bucharest, and Luxembourg.
During Nexus Luxembourg 2025, RomLux hosted a National Pavilion – a dedicated space for Romanian companies where 12 brands showcased innovative products and services, demonstrating the competitiveness of the Romanian tech ecosystem on the international stage.

Luxembourg – A Strategic Hub for Romanian Companies
Luxembourg is particularly attractive to Romanian entrepreneurs due to several key factors:
- Favourable tax environment – a competitive regime with low corporate tax rates and an extensive network of double taxation treaties;
- Strategic location and market access – at the heart of Europe, offering rapid access to major European markets and serving as a logistics hub for trade and distribution;
- Robust financial and business infrastructure – a world-class financial sector supported by a stable legal framework and a multilingual ecosystem that fosters innovation and development;
- Innovation-oriented ecosystem – Luxembourg is recognised as a hub for ICT, cybersecurity, space, fintech, financial services, and logistics, with dedicated support programmes for scaling companies and prominent events such as Nexus, Luxembourg Internet Days, and Luxembourg Venture Days.
For Romanian entrepreneurs, Luxembourg is not only a strategic launchpad for entering the European market but also a friendly business environment with administrative, fiscal, and infrastructural facilities that stimulate growth and expansion.
This combination of geographic location, fiscal advantages, advanced infrastructure, and innovation support makes Luxembourg a top destination for Romanian businesses.
Outlook
RomLux will continue to support Romanian companies in technology and beyond. In 2026, it will renew the tradition of the RomLux Pavilion at the third edition of Nexus 2026 (10–11 June), preceded by the RomLux Nexus Warm-Up event (9 June) where exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their innovative services in a pitch format.
